Let Mrs Mick pay for it herself if she can afford it!

She can afford it in March.
It'll be her 66th birthday and due to when she was born, she reaches OAP.
She'll receive her Old Age Pension then ......... so that's two of us who'll be on it.
She will get a bus pass too, so why not get a free TVL as well?

The state gives you cash, they give you free transport, you get discount in some shops, preferential treatment generally, and so why not a discount - or even a free - telly licence?

Because it's only 45pence a week?
When she's 75 IIRC she'll get one free, and furthermore you'll be able to watch it free too if you want :D
Until then it's money on the nose 45pence every goddamned week

The trouble is, the 40odd pence a day is a contract for a complete year, and it payable by the complete month.
Buy one on the 15th, and it's automatically started on the 1st, so you lose a fortnight. Buy one on the 28th, and you lose four weeks.

Simple solution - don't buy one on 28th, wait til the 1st!

It isn't difficult to fathom is it?
Though some people don't wish to pay either on the 28th or the 1st of the month :?

Say you buy a telly in the 24th but in order to watch it, you legally require a TVL.

So, don't plug it in until the 1st eh?

No I didn't tell anyone when to buy their TV or their TV licence just to be legal and above board have a licence when you turn on the telly :D
If they can't coordinate buying a telly and TV licence that's their problem not mine
