Saddle Positioning

Post by Mick F »

I am Mr Average.

Consequently I can set my saddle position quite simply. I think I'm lucky.

My saddle is level.
It is set fore and aft by the peak being the length from my elbow to the tips of my fingers just touching my handle bars.
The height is set so that when my heels are on the pedals at bottom-dead-centre, my legs are fully stretched.

How do you set yours?

. . . with a spirit level.
. . . as far back as the clamp allows.
. . . and leg not quite fully stretched at bottom of the pedal stroke

I'm with graham. However I have a complication as I've got a bracket for a tag-along on the seat post and if I set it back too far my thighs hit it and it annoys me!

Funnily enough I never had the same problem on my old bike - but then that had a wider sadlle.

Hello,
I set all mine dead level then up a millimeter at the front. As far back on the rails that it will go..Leg slightly overstretched. This is due to spinal problems and a slighly shorter than the left, right leg. I hope you can understand what I mean?

Hello, Thanks for that but I actually use a shim between my shoe and the SPD clip.
