Hamax child seat light

Post by roeboy »

Hiya I currently use Knog lights on the back and front of my bike which are very lovely, but have now taken the rack off where I used to attach my rear blinder to and wondered whether anybody has found a rear light which works with the Hamax seat (preferably USB chargeable), that i can use in conjunction with the seat when I've my daughter on the back of the bike

Regards

It's a failing of the seat.

I ended up cable-tying a Cat-Eye to its shoulder strap adjustment holes.

If you go for a Cateye with a square mount (which is, I think, most if not all) they do a variety of brackets. For a permanent fixing the Rack bracket would be good if you are prepared to make a some small holes in the seat (it even comes with zip ties as well as screws).

Another that I use through slots in the rear of a seat (Co-Pilot in my case) is this one. the LD-610 comes with a bracket similar to this.

Thanks for that Rick, would go with the permanent bracket as you suggest but where do I find out what lights attach to it

I think the square mount is standard to most rear Cateyes but can't be sure for all of them - there are a few that seem to be rubber band mounts, but most of the the bigger ones are the square.

If you look at the range on the Cateye website the only rear lights I can see that definitely aren't compatible are the TL-LD700-R, HL-EL460RC-REAR & SL-LD130R. My suggestion would be to find one you like that is available from your preferred source & check back on this page - if you click on the "Small Parts" tab once you are viewing the details of a lamp it should indicate if it is OK. AFAIK Cateye have only done 1 square mount so, even though the parts list is sometimes slightly different, any square mount listed should mean the light should work with the rack mount.

Hi, newbie.
I've just joined the *Baby Bike Seat* gang after purchasing a Hamax Caress. As the baby seat pretty much obscures the seat post where my rear light was mounted, finding a new location was obviously one of my concerns. After a little thought, this was my solution.

It's a little tricky manipulating them in place but as you can see it works pretty well.

You can attach a light that uses rubber bands on the strap adjustment handle, don't even need to remove it to adjust strap height. A dedicated rear light mount is a major omission though.
