I use a Carry Freedom trailer with a Rohloff on my trike.
My Rohloff has a QR axle and the external gear mech.
The only difference is I now do the QR up on the wrong (chain) side as its easier that way.

That's the same setup as we have, so it's good to know that can be sorted. I see Weber do one specifically for sliding dropouts (like I have) which should also work.

So I think that's all bases covered, assuming I have enough axle length where it's relevant - which I should do, since everyone else seems to be fine.

My QR nut is in two parts.
A plastic cover over a metal core.
What I've done is levered the two parts apart and reassembled them with the core the other way around so that some of it sticks out.
This means that because I have the lever on the chain side, the part of the core that sticks out sits inside the trailer bracket.
When done up this acts like a solid axle and centres the bracket on the QR axle.
Plus I know I have the maximum amount of threads engaged with the but without buying a longer QR axle.
Only downside is if I remove the trailer braket , I need a different QR nut.
