Just to creep you all;
Any cyclist you might meet could be a Shapeshifter.
Therefore, on this premise, it is not a good idea to stop and help a lone cyclist along a quiet country lane.
You've not mentioned motorists.

in a similar vein to R2's experience; I used to commute to work by bike, and one of the possible routes included a bridleway. Homewards bound, at the far end of the bridleway, there was a small and fairly remote car park, surrounded by bushes. In the daytime, you might meet a few dog walkers perhaps. However... unbeknownst to me, said car park was a dogging hot spot on certain days of the month. A few times when I was working late and went home that way, I inescapably saw some terrible, terrible things going on. Definitely a modern peril of the English countryside, that....
