House Contents insurance with generous limit on cycles?

Post by blaugrana »

Can anyone recommend house insurance which doesn't have low limits on cycle cover (eg, 500 GBP on our Norwich Union policy)?

Thanks in advance for any leads.

The Co-operative (CIS) has a limit of £1000 per cycle.

Tell them your needs.

We have several machines far in excess of the figure you quote covered.

Our contents insurance is with Norwich Union who don't charge exta for our two named on the policy tandems (one valued at £2000 and one at £2500).I dare say premiums vary by post code but they were the cheapest and best cover for contents and bicycles.
I also have three solo bikes and their maximum cover(unspecified on the policy)is £700 each(I think).
The tandems are covered at home or anywhere in Europe so long as they are locked to something immovable.

I am with Norwich Union at £1500 per cycle. No maximum-you just tell them what you want. Total cover I have is £5000 and added to policy costr an extra £20 approx.

Another vote for M&S. They insure any item up to 4k I think. You don't have to pay a premium for bikes, unless you want away from home cover.

Thanks all for your suggestions.

I shall have to get back to Norwich Union and ask why they limited me to £500 per bike.

I'll also shop around the other suggestions as Norwich have just upped our premium by 200 quid for having claimed (500 for my Brompton, nicked last year).

Thanks again,

Jeff

Try Debenhams - their website allows you to enter specific bikes to be included with the value.

I've been with Liverpool & Victoria for about 15 years now. Had two claims in that time (not for bikes), both totally hassle-free - didn't even have to fill in any forms. For bikes and other high-value kit you just declare the value.

Highly recommended.
