Hello All!

I have recently bought a Hawk Shopper (Omnibus -please see pic). From taking it apart, I have noticed that many of the ball bearings are missing. I am planning to buy some new sets however pretty stumped at what size I should buy. The wheels are 20 by 2.2 (I don't know it that helps).

Does anyone know what I should purchase?

Very much appreicated! :D :D

You really should measure the existing ones.

They come in standard sizes like 3/16" 1/4"

If you dont have any nice vernier callipers try comparing the balls height to stacks of coins, which you can then measure with a ruler.

Or just take them with you to a bike shop or bearing stockist.

In case you dont already know, replace all of the bearings with bearings from the same bag in any one bearing run, dont top them up with bearings from another bag.
The size difference between bearings of the same nominal size can be enough to cause damage, it is too expensive to make them perfectly the same size, so they are sorted into bags full of bearings nearer in size.

Hi,

The sizes are certain to be :

1/4" - bottom bracket and rear wheel,
(not the same caged bearings).
3/16" - front wheel.
5/32" - headset and pedals.

rgds, sreten.

You can buy them all (except for the pedals) caged to make
life somewhat easier, but uncaged is better, but more fiddly.
Here it might be better to go for less fiddly, near same price.
