Valve type mix-up in inner tube. No matter?

Post by Wenger786 »

I mistakenly bought a "Continental Mountain Bike Inner Tube - 26" x 1.75" - 2.5" (Size: 26" Type: Schrader) for my Trek 4300 (http://www.trekbikes.com/uk/en/bikes/20 ... /trek/4300) i.e. Bontrager Connection Trail, 26"x2.0" wheels.

It seems this is a Auto Schrader Valve but needed a Presta. will it matter?

Mucho Gracias.

yes - it won't fit your rim!

You can do it the other way but if its a presta rim you need presta unless you drill the rim out
Convention? what's that then?

Congratulations ... You have successfully passed Stage 1 of becoming a cyclist. We've all done that. 26" inner tubes are mostly always available in a Preasta/Schrader (auto-valve) option, and what you buy is of course dependent on what size valve hole you have in your rim.
I should coco.

Ooops,

Looks like it's getting returned to Halfords.

... and I thought I was getting such a bargain for £2.31...http://www.halfords.com/cycling/cycling ... x-1-75-2-5.

Managed to do a repair on it - first one in about 40 years! Not sure how a little thorn managed to penetrate that outer, but I'm guessing I'll be getting more the more off road I am.

Thanks again folks.

p.s. don't buy a Bikemate Floor pumps from Aldi. I've never owned anything that was so awful.... Ended up bending the top of my valve trying to get it on and off, not to mention broken floor stand, cracked handle and then the blooming main cylinder came apart.
