Charging Cateye Volt 1200

Post by budgie »

Have just purchased the Cateye 1200 . Great light more than good enough for what I need, however battery charge times using the laptop USB are poor.

Does anyone have a separate Lithium Ion battery charger that they use to improve charge times.

I understand that you have to take great care charging these batteries. Over charging can kill them and even be dangerous, so i do not want to go out and buy any old charger.

Any help would be appreciated.

The USB port provides a nominal 5v at a current of 500mA or more. Some ports can provide greater currents for charging devices. It may be that the USB port on your laptop provides only 500mA. Do you have any other USB ports that you can use? I use my HTC mobile phone charger to charge a Magicshine MJ-890 via USB; the charger is rated at 1A and it is noticeably quicker than the PC at work!
