Cateye rear rack mounts

Have given up on a dodgy dedicated rear rack mounted battery light (there see to be so few around and a fair few of those are dodgy) and pretty much decided to go down the Cateye route, using a rear rack mount, as I have done on a couple of other bikes.
Until now I have used this:

What advantage if any the second one has?
Any disadvantages?

Well the obvious one is that the second item is better able to cope with non-standard hole spacing.

The second one has a hole in the top for a retaining screw which thwarts any would be thieves who aren't carrying a Pozidriv screwdriver.

Do you have one of the mounts axel?
If so, does it work well?

The mount's OK, it's the lamp that's hopeless. I don't use the anti theft screw.

I have one of those mounts and it works very well indeed.
I screws onto the rear rack mounting plate.
I use one of these:
Excellent rear light!

Up until this week, I never in 3 years had a problem with it. The switch always worked, it never leaked or turned itself off and never fell to bits going over rough ground.
This week it took a rather hard knock as the whole bike toppled over onto granite floor tiles because I didn't stand it up properly. The batter terminal was knocked loose and the lens cracked having not come off in the tumble. A bit of glue has sorted the crack and the battery terminal has been bent back so it holds the battery better. Fully working again.
It's the most reliable light I've ever owned.
