Does anyone know what Shimano hub takes a 10t screw on lock ring sprocket?
There was one from the 90's but I don't remember the name?
Thanks in advance.
Shimano hub 10t sprocket
Re: Shimano hub 10t sprocket
now have capreo but before that moultons etc had to use various special arrangements to get a ~10T sprocket.
If you know what machine the system was fitted to that might help track down what you are thinking of.
cheers

Re: Shimano hub 10t sprocket
Hi Brucey.
It is indeed for a Moulton but I'm starting back to front.
The only info I have is the sprocket is a 10t Shimano screw on lock ring type.
I just wondered what hub this would fit?
thanks,
Gary

Re: Shimano hub 10t sprocket
when Dura-ace was uniglide, the hubs had a smaller thread than the other cassette bodies for the top cog and IIRC this would allow fitment of an 11T top sprocket which screwed on (like all UG ones did back in the day). But I don't remember seeing a 10T one.

Cheers Brucey.
Moulton did use Dura Ace on the Jubilee.

Re: Shimano hub 10t sprocket
Moulton and TNT produced 10t cogs that replaced the Hyperglide lockring. To get enough clearance, the axle had to replaced and an extra spacer used on the driveside.
Re: Shimano hub 10t sprocket
after bit of digging about I found this picture of an SRP one on retrobike;

but I don't have any idea where you might get such a thing these days.

Re: Shimano hub 10t sprocket
Thanks Brucey.
I have one from a broken hope wheel the hub flange failed. I did think about the possibility of transferring the axle and freehub to a Shimano body?

Re: Shimano hub 10t sprocket
worth asking Hope if they can sort out your flange somehow; some folk have got on quite well this way.
You can swap the cassette itself around some but Hope hub guts won't fit in shimano hubs, no way, nohow. You might however find that they do (with a bit of messing about) fit into some far eastern hubs that run on cartridge bearings.

Re: Shimano hub 10t sprocket
Hope were not interested when the failure occurred. I was lucky it happened when I was cleaning the bike. The line went something like that hub is over 12 months old - what do you expect. It was a fault in the material but I didn't persue it.
