One aspect that may (or may not) concern you is that, if the bike is insured and the policy requires the bike to be locked (which I suspect most policies do), then were the bike to be stolen the insurance cover would probably require a broken/cut lock or broken/cut decent bike stand. so should the thief discover your key and take your bike, you have face something of an argument with your insurance company.

(No specific experience here, just thinking about possible issues with hiding keys).
