I don't share that opinion after having used B&M lights for the last 16 years. Before I switched to dynamo lights, I probably bought a new pair of battery lights every year, because they rarely lasted more than a single winter season; bad attachment systems was probably the bane of most of them, either by falling off when hitting bumps or being dropped to the ground when trying to insert them with winter gloves on.
My oldest B&M light (a halogen "Oval") from 2004 is still in use by a friend. My B&M Cyo from 2009 was in use every day until recently when I retired it because I got the Cyo Premium instead. Out of the many B&M lights I have owned (Oval, Fly, Cyo, Cyo Premium, DToplight, Selctra, Line Plus , only one has been giving me trouble, and that was a Toplight Line Plus that lost its standlight function after several years service.
Several vendors like Rosebike gives 3 years extra warranty on B&M lights, presumably because the return rate and warranty claim rate is so low compared to other products.
How many of these arethese BATTERY REAR lights though? and that particular model? I said above the dyno version is fine even today and still bright enough with its single led; the stop light could be longer i suppose as it goes after about 1 minute.

Had about seven front and rear in total. Very pleased with both the lighting and the quality with one big exception: both of my Lumotec IQ2 Luxus U USB charging headlamps failed on tour. They replaced the first set and we're negotiating over the second.

I had an appalling rear B&M battery lamp some years ago. The sort that is designed specifically to go on a pannier rack. I stopped trying to use it pretty quickly. The battery contacts inside were flimsy. I hadn't realised such poorly made battery lights still existed. The light would fail on any ride lasting longer than ten minutes. And looking inside revealed why. It was made of very poor materials and had poor design.
I currently have a B&M Cyo premium front dyno light and it has been okay so far.

I've got a Toplight Line Plus (battery) on one bike, bolted to the back of the rack. Seems absolutely fine for build quality and reliability, etc.
(Far better than the P-O-S cheapie bolt-on one (
not B&M) that I've got bolted onto my other bike, which randomly switches itself off...)

Dynamo lights Quality seems ok I have 3 B&M front lights
Cyo lyte must be about 8 years old
Cyo 60 lux one that is 10 years old
IQ-X plus
2 rear lights both flat light plus and Toplight plus which is broken but came second hand no idea of age.
I had a securing ring break on the IQ-X, but this was due to trying to adjust on the road after it had been knocked. Wasn’t a problem bought a new one relatively cheap from Rose. Other than that all have given excellent service.
