OK so its not a bad thing like some of you guys, but I paid for forgetting to take the second tab yesterday eve, spent most of the night turning over to get comfy, killing me in the morn and still hurts now.
Some of its the exercises, but I can still use the arm. Worse when I sit down.

Whilst I am sure most commentators have had frozen shoulder I have had brachial neuropathy(a condition that can mimic frozen shoulder) BN is a little more serious: my arms were made immobile,then the muscles began to atrophy. I didn't know if I was going to manage to toilet myself! The initial pain was intense. I have had this happen to each arm about x3. There is recovery,but not full recovery. What I found most extraordinary was when I was KO'd by this disorder,and frightened,I called the doctor to my house. When I told him what I thought the condition was he became very excited and hostile. So much so I thought he was going to attack me!! He then began to ask me how did I know such a thing(I think he was very annoyed that I had such a technical definition). I then said I had had it diagnosed some x2 times before,both by specialists. Because I flinched at him touching me he said I wasn't allowing him to examine me. I refuted this,then said in a definitive(and threatening)tone: Are you refusing to examine me. At which he then knew he was going to be in Big Trouble if he continued with his hostile/dismissive attitude.

Just a story. 98% docs are fine. But I have come across some who are rude,ignorant and bullies. Maybe they're burnt out. But you always gotta look out for yourself. You don't speak up,you can get dismissed.

Got rash too so it off to the docs
Feels like,,,,,,,,feels like I just fell off my bike and landed on my shoulder.

The physio may well be right, after all they're pros with experience. But the diagnosis it's subtle I think, and must gps aren't interested in following it further than diagnosing the effect "oh that's a frozen shoulder"

I think that you need to be referred to see a shoulder surgeon, as soon as I was examined he diagnosed frozen shoulder.

I did ask the physio and he said that a frozen shoulder means very limited movement, I have no problem with range of movement, but I think that the term "Frozen Shoulder" is a catch all problem with the shoulder pain etc,

The rash is raised and is weeping and itching, I don't even think that skin irritation could mean pain also, but some shoulder pain with rash could be more sinister, so (short of scanning the net) I will ring the docs tomorrow.
Stupid thing is that I could probably still ride without much discomfort, hurts in bed and just sitting.

Hi,
Saw the doc today, two females pawing over me for what must have been 45 mins
Shingles.................but the rash moved past the body centre line, which is not typical, so I also have a secondary infection, as the rash is different.
More likely that shingles will affect a low immune system like me.
So some tabs for the shingles infection, some for the secondary infection, recommended coproxamol type for what basically is a nerve pain.
I never thought I had a injury and docs confirmed unlikely.
Also a tablet to take over night..............an antidepressant supposed to help me sleep.........but has side affects for two weeks of possible self harm / suicide attempts....................... .One to three a night, thinks I just try the one...........
Shingles is supposedly a depressing condition, I can believe that.

Hope it typically does not carry on long after the visual rash disappears..............

The anti depressant Amitriptyline is apparently a neuropathic pain suppressant.

I was told to take 1 - 3 a night (10 - 30 mg) first night one tablet woke three hours later with pain, cant sleep at all.
Second night two tablets, slept right through
And last night the same, dropped the naproxen before bed to half a tablet and slight pain this morning , but I can live with that.
The rashes (two different) are starting to fade so I feel much better but am prepared for discomfort for maybe several weeks if it plays that way as it appears common to be in pain after the rash has gone.
BP is up to 155 / 100 again like with my tooth extraction, so will have to wait for it to come down before cycling again.
I have found shingles as debilitating as a bad tooth problem like an abscess, pain is constant and comes in waves which are hard to bare.

What a very nasty combo of afflictions. Shingles can be very painful. I understand what you are going through with the frozen shoulder and feel very sorry for you.. Mine is still very painful. The Physio reckons that the painful phase lasts from 4 to 9 months. I am in month 5 at present and stepping up the twice daily exercises she gave me. I believe they are to gradually seperate the adhesions that have formed in the joint to gradually increase your range of movement. I do find that doing the exercises to the limit of the pain I can stand leads to the constant pain in my shoulder being diminished afterwards. I only take pills when the pain is so severe it interferes with my sleep and I only have Ibuprofin and Paracetamol that I purchased myself.

I had a frozen shoulder many years ago which came on slowly, lasted several months and got better of it's own accord. I tried the gp, free physio from work and even acupuncture but in the end i just had to live with it. I only noticed it coming on as it got progressively more painful when i was down on the drops. A couple of years ago it re-appeared and i put up with it until i heard a radio programme where a shoulder specialist suggested that many gps confuse impingements with frozen shoulders. I went back to my gp with this info and he gave me a cortizone injection into the shoulder joint tendon (yes it was painful) but it was like squirting wd40 onto a stuck cable. Within a couple of days i had painfree full movement

I had a cortisone injection for tennis elbow twice, nothing else worked.
What was originally diagnosed as a frozen shoulder over the phone by GP was then diagnosed by physio as a rotor cuff injury.
But then along came the shingles which actually started with pain and soreness in the armpit.
Shingles attacks the nerves some how, and is real pain cant sleep etc.
The rash is fading now and although still some pain in the arm, did not take naproxen last night which actually does not work on nerve pain but helped me sleep up till now.
But I am still on Amitriptyline two a night and will wean of them soon, but still on coproxamal type too.
BP is still 150 / 100 but thinking that the exercise will bring that down like before with nasty tooth extraction.

So 2.5 weeks off for tooth extraction, one week off for bereavement and not ridden since 18th Dec

I am not a medic, so don't know anything about your condition, but after taking a year to recover (through physio) from a simultaneous frozen shoulder and kneecaps that weren't sliding in their rails properly, a colleague advised me to see a Chiropracter about a painful lower back, caused by lifting too much weight using a bad lift procedure a couple of decades ago. I was horrified to see that the Chiro was going to cost me £65 for the first visit and £35 thereafter, but the pain got so bad that I would have happily paid £1,000 to see the back of it. It turned out to be the best money that I ever spent. He hasn't cured my back, but within 2 weeks I was free of pain and a week later I was able to stand up straight. Every so often I pop back there for a tweaking session. I think that my problem is down to lack of core strength. Working on that may improve my back.
