Steve abraham attempt
Steve abraham attempt
For me 200 miles as a one off is beyond comprehension so 200 every day is insane.
Regarding the bit on traffic he seems to have no fear there. He cycled the A168 around Dishforth. The bit which is basically a motorway.

Re: Steve abraham attempt
we should ALL do as much as we can to publicise and support his effort.
You can give practical support by donating towards the considerable cost of this year long effort

Re: Steve abraham attempt
The guys at Global Cycling Network have picked up on his record attempt so that should raise his profile quite a bit (he'll top the GCN weekly Strava leader board if nothing else). Steve is certainly trundling on despite the weather. Just a" short" day today at 150 miles.
The American fella Kurt is ripping it up too, riding 200 mile days at over 19mph!
If Mick F though Steve's rides were flat... https://www.strava.com/activities/242477997
Florida, where 200 miles nets you less than 1000 feet of elevation gain.

wow, now that is flat, 3feet per mile = 0.1% average gradient with a maximum 49ft 'peak' on that ride! His average for all his rides thus far is 9feet per mile, so really Searvogel has a huge advantage not only in weather conditions (barring hurricanes) but his route is massively easier
All things considered he should bust the record too, I hope Abrahams efforts won't be for nought

You're not kidding talk about flat. Even though Steve isn't exactly tackling the highlands on every ride he's riding mountains compared to the Florida guy, as well as the weather of course.
Mind you doesn't it get really hot in Florida in the summer or is that guy going to move somewhere else equally as flat but less hot?
As for the GCN leaderboards Steve is currently consistently in second place to this guy https://www.strava.com/athletes/389932# ... r_offset=0 who apparently is going for the month distance record while in Australia.
Re: Steve abraham attempt
If the American does beat Steve then Steve could still hold the UK record, which we can appreciate as we know that includes the winter period like we are experiencing now.
Re: Steve abraham attempt
https://www.strava.com/clubs/117991 this is a good way to follow the competition as it unfolds. Despite Kurt having obvious advantages he's still only 20 miles ahead of Steven.

Re: Steve abraham attempt
I think it will be very difficult to tell how the different record attempts will progress as there is a lot of the year to go; a lot of potential for injury (just imagine the physiological stresses such activity levels put on the body); motivation; boredom ; etc.

Highly unlikely but exciting if it came down to the final day and the time difference, best check he stays in the same time zone.

Isn't someone else going to attempt but hasn't started yet?
Re: Steve abraham attempt
The American did another 211 miles yesterday, again pancake flat, 831ft of climbing. I can do more than that in a half hours loop.
