I suspect those Campag shifters are like mine. The pawl thing is plastic and doesn't last. Mine had only done about 15,000 miles before the tip of the pawl that's really part of the up shift button wore down. The helpful souls at the importers suggested I buy a new body. Thing is it was over 60 quid and that was without the brakes lever or hood. For 1! Just bought a pair from Wiggle for under 70 quid. Thought I was getting 2013/4 ones but the very latest arrived.
Sadly its cheaper to buy new for the lower range at least.
By the way they are shifting perfectly with 9 speed Comp triple mechs on SRAM cassette with American Classic Campag thickness, Shimano splined spacers :D
