BB taper ISO onto JIS

Post by KEELIEDW »

My circa 1990 Peugeot Stanford trekking bike has a Stronglight chainset and, presumably, bottom bracket. I wish to fit a Shimano chainset. Can anyone confirm whether the existing bb is likely to be ISO taper on a French bike of this vintage? If so, is it feasible to fit the Shimano chainset?

you will almost certainly need a different BB spindle length anyway, so I'd suggest that you buy a new BB to match your new chainset and be done with it.

cheers

Shimano (JIS) chainset on ISO square taper is not recommendable, the other way round works well mostley.
