Carlton BB ball bearings.

What size ball bearings are in the BB of my 1982 Carlton Criterium.

They will be quarter inch, but in my experience they are unlikely to be worn unless the whole thing is toast.

Suspect BB just needs lube. I have 6mm balls available if needed. I'll do the strip and lube. Twin chainring SR chainset. If I convert it to single ring can I get away with just turning the axle around ? ?

6mm balls? about as useful as a chocolate teapot they are, in a bicycle context....

BTW you should look after your BB carefully if it is an older 26tpi one; you won't easily find another like it.

cheers
