short women's shorts

I'm trying to find a pair of padded shorts that suit my size and my allergies. I am short with thick legs; I get a rash from Lycra, and irritation from the antibacterial "stuff". Does anyone else have similar problems, if so, which shorts have you found to be most comfortable?

I'm short with skinny legs! Rarely wear lycra these days, and never on a tour. Saves daily washing and unwelcome attention if I wear loose zip-off hiking pants in an easy-care sunproof, breathable material. (Got some from Aldi for £10 recently to replace a Peter Storm pair 5 years old.)

If you will allow me to say Ladies I was beginning to enjoy the thought of a discussion of "short women's shorts" whilst lurking discreetly in the background.... to no avail.
Perhaps I should not make my interest public; then it might continue!
