I had one inexplicably fail after a few months light (pun!) use. There was no electrical output and the windings were almost short circuit.

It was replaced under warranty.

There was a discussion about these hubs on another forum - https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=83250.0

Ta, I might've asked there first. Cheers.

The French importer, Yannig, posts on forums as Panoramix and has done quite a bit of randonneuring in the UK and France, some of it with Judith and I. He'll give you the drum on any problems that he's encountered with them so that you can make an informed decision.

Incidentally don't get too hung up on performance of hubs, the difference in performance is minimal in real life compared with a flappy jersey. I've subjected my shimano dynohub to a full Aberdeenshire winter of riding and its still great. What lights are you using?

+1

I'd be more concerned about long term reliability, and that will probably depend on the type and amount of use it has. I've heard suggestions that the SP bearings might not be particularly well sealed and also it seems unclear whether the importers offer a repair service, such as Schmidt do, or whether DIY is viable. I suppose its a fairly new product so time will tell. I was disappointed that mine suffered an electrical failure, especially after so little use - I just hope this was a one-off.
