Bar Bags and STI

Hi,

I have a lovely bar bag that is just wode nough to fit useful things in - like A4 pages. My bike also has STI shifters however, and while there is just about enough clearance between the shifters and the bag, it is extremely tight, especilly when chaniging the front rings, and invariably gets stuck when you really need to change!

Does anyone have any suggestions? The obvious one is get a smaller bag - any good ones?

How about re-routing the cables, which currenty come out perpendicular to the drops right into the space where the bar bag wats to be, and then get unceremoniously bent out the way, which can't be good for them...?

Cheers,

Ben

Just bought an Altura Handy barbag from St John St Cycles. Specifically designed to fit inside STI cables. (11 x 20 x 24cm). Does the job.

Two possibilities, perhaps ...

1 If it's a Klik Fix fitting (Rixen and Kaul) you can get an extender for the bar fitting that pushes the forward and further away from the bars and shifters

2 If you're really desperate consider fitting wider bars, therefore gaining bag space between the drops (as I said, only if really desperate!)

I have 2 tourers with extender bracket and it works fine to clear cables etc

Hi

The way I solved this problem is with four 90 degree V-brake lead pipes. you know the little metal bends they use to change the pull derection at the brakes. These turn the cable first down then back towards the steerer and take the cable below the bar bag. a cheap and simple way to solve the problem, also they will move when steering so no problems there.
My only comment is the ones I have don't seem to have been made of stainless steel.
