Any recommendations on compact workstands?

I use a folding workstand similar to the Minoura DS500 (follow link

and sit on a low stool as if I was milking a cow. OK it means that the front wheel is in contact with the ground but for most jobs it's perfectly adequate and takes up little space when not in use.

^^^Me also and it is good. Usually sold under the name of "Union" and it can be found cheaper than the one in the link.

Cycling + this month gives a reasonable review (7/10) of the Topeak Flashstand.

I use an unbranded Minoura DS500 equivalent as mentioned by Graeme. Not a bona fide workstand by any means, but it gets the back wheel off the ground and was nice and cheap from my LBS - about £10, albeit without the folding legs of the Minoura. I've just finished lubing my chain and my back is'nt aching much!!

I'll probably treat mself to something more spectacular in the future though, which in turn will no doubt encourage an improvement my maintenance skills!
